Circa Oct 2017 – What do Dinosaurs have to do with this wedding? I’ll tell you in a moment.

We provided wedding dj services for a family that hired us for the previous 2 siblings. This one took the Cake though. Most of the family and friends were from Los Angeles however, this couple chose to have the reception east, very east of Bakersfield. Why? Well, It didn’t matter once I arrived to unload.

So, you have to leave LA and travel on I-5 North then shortly after leaving the Grapevine and entering the San Joaquin Valley you then merge to Highway 99 North.

Then just before you enter Bakersfield you take one of 3 ways east to a location called JEH Ranch. When you get to the last 15 minutes of the drive you see dead vegetation, dirt hills and no signs of life. As you see this and think about why this wedding is out at this location it makes you wonder.

Then you start seeing those oil pumps. Some pumping up and down slow, some fast and some not pumping. There are about 100 of these pumps. All I could think about is Dinosaurs and extinction.

My GPS said 3 minutes to arrival but then as I drove over a hill, BAM!, trees and life. Wouldn’t you know it. A stream of water about 2 feet deep and lush bushes, flowers, birds and nature; Oasis! As you see in the pic it was even more amazing than what was caught on camera.
