Circa Oct 2016 – Party Boat Marina Del Rey – Where is everybody? I’ll tell you in a moment. This use to be one of my favorite places to perform for a party. Why? Well once all the passengers are safely aboard the Captain of the boat takes us on a cruise around the marina and zig zags and so forth. In the meantime guests chow down on appetizers and libations for the first hour of the trip while looking out at the scenery of the marina. Sounds nice right? Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a free boat trip and get paid as the karaoke dj in the process? Well first you have to park your vehicle to unload at the nearest point of the loading dock and it’s almost 100 yards of distance from vehicle to boat not to mention as you get to the last 50 feet, the walkway is only 5 feet wide and equipment can easily fall off your cart and into the water. Ok, so once you make it past the that scary moment as waves are making your cart full of equipment wobble then you have to unload the cart and carry separately all the equipment by hand through the back of the boat and up a hair pin tight stairs that might as well be a ladder; the stairs basically are vertical to go up to the floor where the karaoke dj set up will be. In this picture is that upstairs floor I just described and all the passengers are on the first level enjoying the first of many libations.
